Color Palette
Founded by husband-and-wife team Katie and Ricardo Arias, Area Coffee celebrates single-origin, responsibly sourced beans roasted in their hometown of Kingston, NY. The logo system draws inspiration from a vintage aviation company owned by Ricardo's grandfather in Ecuador.
I refined the original aviation logos into a contemporary mark and icon set, a condensed modern typeface complements the logo suite, and the whole look is anchored by a sophisticated and restrained palette of classic deep red , pale blue and gold.
Throughout the system, curved lines and color blocks draw inspiration from vintage aviation posters and luggage tags, helping to define sections. The restrained palette allows contrast to do the heavy lifting.
